NYFW 2024 is over, but we can’t stop thinking about the amazing outfits we saw on the models and the celebrities. There were so many cool and creative looks that made us want to update our closets for the fall season. We saw a lot of black and white dresses with big hair that reminded us of the fancy parties in the old movies. We also saw a lot of bright reds that matched the energy and excitement of the event. These colors are still hot after the Grammy’s, where many stars wore them.
Some other colors that caught our eye were the shiny silvers and metallics that looked like they were melting or flowing. They added some sparkle and glamour to the outfits. We also liked the rich orange that popped up here and there. It was a fun and fresh color for fall. The work clothes were not boring at all. They had some fun details like fringe and flare that made them stand out. And the coats were so beautiful and elegant that we wanted to trade in our old ones for new ones. Best in Bow
Bows were everywhere, from headbands to flats and from embellishments to embroideries. Designers like Sandy Liang, Wiederhoeft, and Coach played with the size and placement of bows, creating looks that were playful, whimsical, and dramatic.
C-Suite Chic Coats
Outerwear got a corporate makeover, with tailored and sophisticated coats that exuded power and elegance. Proenza Schouler, Michael Kors Collection, and Fforme presented coats in leather, pinstripes, and shearling, among other materials.
Molten Metals
Metallics shone on the runways, but not in the usual futuristic or robotic way. Instead, designers like Anna Sui, Christian Siriano, and Jason Wu used metallic fabrics that had a rustic, lived-in texture, resembling molten metals or liquid silver.
Modern Mob Wife
The Sopranos-inspired mob wife aesthetic was a major influence, with statement coats that featured fur, leather, and feathers. Peter Do, L’Agence, Prabal Gurung, and Christian Cowan offered luxurious and decadent outerwear that was unapologetically glamorous.
Rep Era
Taylor Swift fans will be delighted to see that the Reputation era style was reflected in many of the collections, with snake prints, dark colors, and edgy accessories. Monse, LaQuan Smith, and Brandon Maxwell channeled the pop star’s attitude and aesthetic in their designs.
Soft Power Dressing
The ’80s power dressing trend got a softer and more feminine twist, with pastel colors, ruffles, and lace. Designers like Tory Burch, Carolina Herrera, and Oscar de la Renta balanced the sharpness of suits and blazers with delicate details and fabrics.
Tartan
Tartan was a popular pattern, appearing in various colors and styles. Designers like Gabriela Hearst, Thom Browne, and Rodarte mixed and matched tartan prints, creating eclectic and eye-catching looks.
